SPLIT, 15 August 2019 – Croatian football club Hajduk Split have hosted their youngest fan after he became an internet hit around the world this week.
A photo of one and a half year-old Tomo Efendic, which was taken by Hajduk Split’s official photo reporter Robert Matic during Hajduk’s match against Lokomotiva in Split, went viral this week around the globe, attracting close to 1 million likes on Instagram.
The cute photo of a smiling Tomo dressed in a Hajduk t-shirt in the stands was shared by popular football page 4-3-3, which has over 22 million followers.
The photo also set a record likes (over 22,000) on Hajduk’s official Instagram page and on Wednesday the star of the photo was a guest of the club with his parents Marija and Anto, who were still surprised that their son’s smile has captured so many hearts all around the world.
A number of former and current Hajduk stars shared and liked the photo, as too have a number of Croatian internationals like Ivan Rakitic.
“We are really surprised by the impact this photo has had, we see likes and comments are rising minute by minute. This was Tommy’s first match at Poljud and also the first photo posted on social media. So far, we have never publicly published a photo of him, and the first one immediately became a viral hit. Thank you to photographer Robert Matic for capturing the history footage,” Tomo’s parents told Hajduk.hr.
Young Tomo arrived at Poljud stadium on Wednesday in a Hajduk t-shirt and was gifted the white Hajduk Split kit and a ball signed by all the players.
