7 May 2019 – Plitvice Lakes National Park has introduced a new ticket purchase system.
Plitvice National Park has introduced an online e-ticket system. Tickets can only be purchased in advance, at least 2 days prior to arrival. Entry tickets will still be able to be purchased at the Park, but with the risk that they will not be available because the number of tickets per hour will be limited because of overcrowding, daily Jutarnji list reports.
Visitors are therefore encouraged to purchase tickets online using the e-ticket system which is still in test phase.
“Our online ticketing system is still in its test phase, so we apologise in advance because of possible congestion in the visitor system. If you’re planning to visit the Park and you bought a ticket online, please pay attention to the time you have chosen to enter the park. You can enter the park only during the hour for which you have bought tickets, and you can pick up your tickets half an hour before and during the hour you booked for entering the Park,” the Park said on its website.
Plitvice Lakes National Park is the oldest and largest national park in Croatia and attracted over 1.7 visitors last year.

With its exceptional natural beauty, the area has always attracted nature lovers and on 8 April, 1949, it was proclaimed the first national park in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage list.
