15 March 2019 – More and more films and TV series are choosing Croatia as filming location. Next month Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek and Ryan Reynolds are set to shoot the sequel to ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ in Rovinj and currently in Zagreb a new Netflix series is being filmed.

Shooting has begun in the Croatian capital for the new Netflix series Medical Police. As well as playing Zagreb in the series, the capital will also act as cities like Berlin, Riga and Florence in the series which is about two American doctors who discover a deadly virus in Brazil are recruited as government agents in a race to find a cure and uncover a dark conspiracy.

“Although they have a lot of money, in Los Angeles you can not fake this kind of history and architecture,” scenarist and producer Krister Johnson told RTL.

“Even the Americans said themselves that we here do not realise that over there they talk how Croatia is a sought-after location,” local producer Ivan Petrušić said.

The Zagreb Tourist Board see the filming in the city as a great opportunity for more promotion.

“5% of visitors from the EU select holiday destinations based on their favourite film or series which is good because now Zagreb will be in the conversation,” said Zagreb Tourist Board director Martina Bienenfeld.

Actor and producer Rob Corddry says the hospitality so far has been wonderful.

“I would like to thank the people in Zagreb and the rest of Croatia not just for their hospitality which they have shown us, but also for inventing the neck tie. I want to thank everyone for the neck tie as I love to wear them.”

“You need to watch the series as it is very funny. If you like to laugh, then you need to watch it,” said actors Erinn Hayes and Rob Huebel.

Filming in Zagreb will last 10 days with the series coming out on Netflix shortly.
